Take your family to Bishop Museum for Hawaiian Electric’s Grow Hawaiian Festival. The event, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, celebrates Earth Month and highlights sustainability, native plants and Hawaii culture. Shop at a farmers market for native plants and local products, and talk to master gardeners about caring for your plants.
Tip
To get the most juice from your citrus, microwave the fruit in 20- to 30-second intervals on high to allow juices to flow more easily. Cool 1-2 minutes before juicing.
The festival is free for residents and military families. The museum is at 1525 Bernice St. Parking is $3 at the museum or free at Damien Memorial or Kapalama Elementary schools. Visit hawaiianelectric.com/growhawaiian or call 543-7511.
