Hawaii junior Izzy Leung placed third in the individual standings and the Rainbow Wahine finished fifth in the team race in the Big West women’s golf championship Tuesday on Maui.
Leung carded a 1-over-par 73 in the final round at Kapalua’s Bay Course to finish with a three-day total of 9-over 225, five strokes behind winner Paige Lee of UC Davis.
UH posted a total of 61-over 925. UC Riverside captured the conference title at 50 over, four shots ahead of Cal Poly.
UH Hilo baseball snaps 10-game slide
Jordan Kumasaka pitched a seven-hitter as the Hawaii Hilo baseball team snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over Holy Names in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday in Oakland, Calif.
Phillip Steering drove in three runs and Kyle Yamada scored three times for the Vulcans.
The Hawks won the second game 9-1.
Hilo moved to 5-28, 4-24 PacWest, while Holy Names went to 10-32, 7-21.

Vazquez wins weekly track and field honor
A personal best in the javelin earned Hawaii junior Felicianna Vazquez the Big West Field Athlete of the Week award on Tuesday.
Vazquez, a Radford graduate, posted the second longest throw in the UH track and field program’s history at 163 feet, 2 inches at the Beach Pacific Coast Invitational last Thursday in Long Beach, Calif.
BYUH softball swept by Cal Baptist
The Brigham Young-Hawaii softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 9 California Baptist on Tuesday in Riverside, Calif.
The Lancers won 6-1 and 10-2. The Seasiders managed just seven hits total.
California Baptist improved to 38-8, 21-5 PacWest, while BYU-Hawaii fell to 9-27, 5-21. ——— Star-Advertiser
