Brigham Young-Hawaii’s Brent Grant was named PacWest Men’s Golfer of the Year on Tuesday, the first time a Seasider has won the award.
BYUH’s Bob Owan was named conference Coach of the Year.
Grant is ranked No. 12 in Division II, according to Golfstat, with an average of 71.93.
This season, Grant won the Mustang Intercollegiate and became the first BYUH golfer to win the PacWest Championship.
Owan led the Seasiders to a No. 16 national ranking and the No. 5 seed in the NCAA West Region.
BYUH’s Nicolas Herrera and Dalton Stanger and Hawaii Hilo’s Kyeton Littel and Jared Kinoshita were named to the All-PacWest third team.
UH-Hilo’s Kristen Sawada was named to the women’s All-PacWest third team.

The No. 16 Seasiders are tied with Cal State Monterey Bay at 581 in the 20-team tournament. Oklahoma Christian is first at 572 and Chico State is second at 573.
BYU-Hawaii’s Nicolas Herrera and Inoka Kahawaii are tied for seventh at even-par 142. Brent Grant is tied for 19th at 144.

UH men’s golf last at Big West tournament
The University of Hawaii men’s golf team is ninth and last after the second round of the Big West Men’s Championship on Tuesday at Simi Valley, Calif.
The Rainbow Warriors shot a 296 on Tuesday and stand at 603.
UC Riverside leads the tournament at 574.

Jones, Roberts hired by BYU-Hawaii
Brigham Young-Hawaii announced on Tuesday the hiring of Brad Jones as athletic director and Gabriel Roberts as men’s basketball head coach.
In January, Jones joined the Seasiders as the assistant athletic director and compliance officer.
Roberts was an assistant coach the last eight seasons under Ken Wagner, who stepped down last week to take a coaching position with the Taiwanese men’s and women’s national teams.
HPU men, BYUH women earn No. 1 seeds
The Brigham Young-Hawaii women and Hawaii Pacific men earned No. 1 seeds for the NCAA Division II West Regional tennis tournaments.
By virtue of receiving top seeds, the Seasiders women and Sharks men advance directly to the national championship tournament, which starts May 18 in Denver.
The BYU-Hawaii women are ranked No. 1 in the country after finishing the regular season 22-0. The HPU women (15-5) are seeded No. 2 and will host UC San Diego in a first-round matchup Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex.
The HPU men are ranked No. 3 after a 17-3 regular season.
