A 27-year-old Japanese visitor died Tuesday after he became unresponsive while scuba diving off south Oahu.
The Honolulu medical examiner’s office identified the man as Tatsumi Umemura of Nagoya, Japan.
The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
Paramedics took Umemura to a hospital in critical condition and he later died.
Cause of house fire under investigation
Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Nanakuli home Wednesday night.
Ten fire companies responded to the two-alarm fire in the 87-400 block of Hakimo Road at about 6:15 p.m. and found the single-story family home engulfed in flames, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 6:46 p.m.
