The Hawaii basketball team named two players, forward Stefan Jankovic and point guard Roderick Bobbitt, winners of the Art Woolaway Most Outstanding Player award at the Rainbow Warriors’ postseason banquet on Thursday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Jankovic was the Big West Player of the Year in leading the ’Bows in scoring and rebounding during their banner 28-6 season, which ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Bobbitt led UH in assists and steals and finished as the program’s career steals leader.
It was the first time since the 2007-08 season UH split its top individual award. First-year coach Eran Ganot introduced two new honors: the Riley Wallace Leadership Award, named after the program’s wins leader; and the Bob Nash Hustle Award, after the former UH Fabulous Fiver and longtime coaching staffer.
Senior guard Quincy Smith took home the Wallace Award as well as the Most Improved Award. Junior forward Mike Thomas got the Nash Award nod. Senior forward Sai Tummala took home the Scholar-Athlete Award, while sophomore guard Niko Filipovich was presented with the Community Service Award.
The Hawaii 5-O bench mob received the Ah Chew Goo Most Inspirational Award.
