Hawaii Pacific tennis player Thibaud Berland was named PacWest Conference Men’s co-Player of the Year on Thursday and Brigham Young-Hawaii’s Dallas Zhang took the top women’s honor.
The Sharks’ Alexander Meyer was named Men’s Freshman of the Year and Hendrik Bode was voted Men’s Coach of the Year.
Berland, Meyer and HPU teammate Jaume Martinez-Vich were the only players from a Hawaii school named to the first team in singles.
Berland shared the top honor with Azusa Pacific’s Jan Meyer.
Berland and Alexander Meyer were named first team in doubles.
The Seasiders’ Summer Wen was named Women’s Newcomer of the Year.
The first teams for singles and doubles were comprised entirely of BYU-Hawaii and HPU players.
In singles, Zhang, Wen and Karen Liu of the Seasiders and Kristyna Hancarova, Nicole Hoynaski and Syna Kayser of the Sharks were honored.
In doubles, BYUH’s Zhang/Wen and Liu/ Shu-Yin Hsieh, and HPU’s Hancarova/Hoynaski were honored.
