Three-time WSL champion Carissa Moore won her round-four heat in 3-to-4 foot conditions on Sunday at the Oi Rio Pro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Moore defeated injury replacement Bronte Macaulay of Australia 11.84 to 10.93 to move on to the quarterfinals. Moore will face six-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore of Australia.
Hawaii surfers Malia Manuel and Tatiana Weston-Webb are also in the quarterfinal round.
On the men’s side, surfers who advanced to round three representing Hawaii are: John John Florence, Dusty Payne, Sebastian Zietz and Jack Freestone.
