A head-on collision Wednesday night near the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor sent four people to the hospital, including one in critical condition.
Police said three visitors from Arizona were in a car that was hit by another vehicle, which had been speeding in the wrong direction on Kamehameha Highway.
Police said the 28-year-old driver of a white Mercedes sedan was traveling west on Kamehameha Highway at 5:11 p.m. when he hit a 2014 Nissan driven by a 45-year-old woman from Arizona. She was taken in serious condition to the Queen’s Medical Center.
The Mercedes driver was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He was speeding when he crossed from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes, police said.
The accident occurred near Halawa Drive and Kamehameha Highway.
The passengers in the Nissan — a 49-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man — were taken to the hospital in satisfactory condition.
Homeless man accused of assaulting officer
A 36-year-old homeless man allegedly assaulted a police officer while being arrested for being disorderly and damaging property in Kakaako early Thursday.
Police said the incident occurred on South Street at 12:28 a.m..
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
