Honolulu firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to a flare-up of a brush fire that had been contained in the Waialae Nui Ridge area Wednes-day.

Firefighter spokesman Capt. David Jenkins said some 35 firefighters, along with a helicopter that dropped water on the fire, were sent to an area near the Ewa side of Alaeloa Street after receiving the call at 2:45 p.m.

It took about two hours to contain the fire, which burned 7 to 10 acres.

Initially the brush fire was contained Wednes-day afternoon after firefighters battled it for 2-1/2 hours. It burned 3 to 5 acres.
