Promoter Tom Moffatt, left, congratulated Emilio Castillo, founder and leader of Tower of Power, after the 10-man group thrilled fans for almost two hours May 14 at the Blaisdell Arena. Highlights included “Don’t Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream),” “What Is Hip?” and an extended arrangement of “Diggin’ on James Brown,” with “You’re Still a Young Man” for the encore. New vocalist Marcus Scott was amazing, and Castillo said afterward, “Wait till you see him a year from now.”
