A 52-year-old woman who was fatally injured by a motor vehicle while walking in a crosswalk in the Keeaumoku Street area last week has been identified as Exian Lin.
Lin, of the Waikiki/Diamond Head area, died of blunt impact to her head, said the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office, which identified her Tuesday. Her death was ruled an accident.
Police said Lin was hit at about 10:10 a.m. Friday at Rycroft and Sheridan streets.
A 27-year-old man driving east on Rycroft Street struck Lin while making a left turn onto Sheridan Street, police said. Lin was in the crosswalk and had the walk signal, police said.
She was taken in critical condition to a hospital where she died Saturday night.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to identify a 56-year-old woman who was killed by a vehicle while crossing Keeaumoku Street on Saturday. The woman had the walk signal and was crossing in or near a crosswalk when a 25-year-old man struck her with a vehicle at the King Street intersection, police said.
She died Sunday. She was this year’s 10th pedestrian fatality on Oahu.
Officer’s stolen car held rifle, Taser
Police were searching for a police officer’s personal car that was stolen in Makiki on Tuesday with the officer’s rifle, Taser electric stun gun and other police equipment inside, a Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman said.
The white two-door 2000 Honda Civic with license plates JGC 937 was stolen at about noon from a Makiki parking garage.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers.
HPD policy requires that officers exercise extreme caution in storing weapons and other equipment, the spokeswoman said. HPD is looking into the incident.
