LINTHICUM, Md. >> Passengers have a new way to pass the time at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport: They can learn about CPR in about five minutes.
An interactive kiosk at Gate B7 teaches the lifesaving act via video, touch screen and a practice mannequin. A practice session and test follow. The kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of chest compressions and hand placement.
There are four other such kiosks around the country.
Video reminds visitors to not touch
COLUMBIA, Pa. >> The forgiving folks at the National Watch & Clock Museum have a timely reminder for visitors: Don’t touch.
The museum in Columbia shared surveillance video of a man who couldn’t resist touching a sculpted, wooden clock on Tuesday. The clock then fell off the wall, breaking into many pieces, as the befuddled patron swiftly walked away, apparently hoping he wouldn’t be noticed.
“We cringe every time something like this happens,” museum director Noel Poirier said.
The museum isn’t pressing charges and didn’t try to identify the man.
“Posting the video is not an effort on our part to shame anyone,” Poirier said. “We did not want them to feel bad or persecuted as a result. We want to use (the video) to educate. When you come to a museum, play by the rules.”
Poirier wouldn’t say how much the clock is worth. He said it was damaged in the fall, though “not beyond repair.”
Disney plans new California hotel
LOS ANGELES >> For the first time in 20 years, Disney officials have submitted plans to the city of Anaheim to build a new luxury hotel.
The 700-room hotel, the fourth at the Disneyland resort, would be designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, the same designers and engineers who come up with Disneyland’s attractions, with construction slated to begin in 2018. The project should be completed by 2021, Disney officials said.
No theme for the hotel has been announced, but amenities will include a rooftop terrace and restaurant, two pools and a “water play area.”
