Kauai-based rum distiller Koloa Rum Co. continues to pick up awards in 2016, adding five gold medals at the 2016 Miami Rum Renaissance Festival.
The gold medals follow a win at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in March, where the distillery’s Kauai Coconut Rum won the competition’s Chairman’s Trophy and its Kauai Coffee Rum — the company’s newest product — was named a finalist. That same month, Koloa’s Kauai Coffee Rum also won a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Judges at the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival, held in April, evaluated rums from 22 countries and six U.S. states and territories.
Koloa’s Kauai Coffee Rum was awarded a Best in Class gold medal, the highest honor available, while its Kauai White Rum, Kauai Gold Rum, Kauai Spice Rum and Kauai Dark Rum all won gold medals in their respective categories.
The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America also honored Koloa in April, awarding it silver medals for its Kauai Coffee Rum and Kauai Coconut Rum.
