The Military Affairs Council this month recognized Hawaii students who will attend military academies and military preparatory schools.
Thirty students were accepted into the U.S. service academies, and 13 appointments were made to the academies as well as to civilian military preparatory schools. The students and their parents were recognized at a reception hosted by the Military Affairs Council (MAC) of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii on June 1 at the Oahu Country Club.
“This is one of the most diverse groups we have seen accepted from Hawaii. They represent public, private and home schools across the state. We wish them all success as they enter their respective academies in the fall and would like to thank them for their commitment to serving our nation,” said David Carey, MAC chairman.
The students were honored by members of the MAC, U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono and alumni of U.S. military academies as they prepared to attend U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School and U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School.
