Albert “Rabbit” Kekai, 95, a Waikiki beachboy and surfer called the father of modern “hot-dog surfing,” will be remembered in services 7 a.m. Saturday at Duke’s Restaurant in Waikiki.
He died May 13 in Leahi Hospital.
He is survived by wife Lynn Hopkins-Kekai; daughters Nani, Kootchie and Susie Kekai, and Kelli Huddy; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Scattering of ashes: 8 a.m. Saturday. Reception to follow: 9-11 a.m. at Duke’s lower stage. The family asks that aloha attire be worn and that loose flowers be brought for scattering in the ocean. Condolences: ballardfamilymoanalua mortuary.com.
