A 48-year-old man stole another man’s property Monday in Waikiki after claiming to be a police officer, police said.
The man, who provided police no local address, walked up to the 31-year-old victim, who was seated in a parked vehicle, at about 5 a.m. and told the victim to get out of the vehicle, police said.
The suspect allegedly then entered the victim’s vehicle and took a backpack without permission.
Honolulu Police responded to the scene and later arrested the suspect at Ala Wai Boulevard and Lipeepee Street for investigation of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and second-degree impersonation of a law enforcement officer.
