Music From Then and Now
1 . The Gay Men’s Chorus of Honolulu presented “Music From Then and Now” on Sunday at the Hawaii Theatre. The chorus and concert of popular songs from various eras celebrated diversity and gay pride.
Father’s Day at Waimea Valley
2. The fourth annual Waimea Valley Summer Concert Series celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday with a barbecue and the concert “Mele Kulaiwi — Songs of our Native Land,” featuring Jerry Santos & Friends, Hapa and Halau Ka La Onohi Mai O Ha‘e Ha‘e.
Honolulu BBQ and Blues Festival
3. The Honolulu BBQ and Blues Festival on Saturday featured performances by Kahulanui, Kalapana and Kailua Bay Buddies at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, with celebrity pitmaster Myron Mixon on hand to share barbecue tips.
Ikaika Bodybuilding Championships
4. Competitors from Hawaii and the U.S. mainland competed at the Ikaika championships on Saturday at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Categories included Men’s Classic Physique, Women’s Figure Masters and Bikini Open.
DJ StoneRokk live at Sky Waikiki
5. Outspoken, eclectic Las Vegas/L.A. DJ StoneRokk, known for his partnership with Graham Funke in Vegas-based duo the Captains of Industry and a member of the SKAM Artist roster, took over the decks June 17 at Sky Waikiki.
2016 Hawaii’s Best Awards
6. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser welcomed winners of the 2016 Hawaii’s Best Awards to a celebration at the Pacific Club on Monday.
