Hawaii Prep’s Emma Taylor was named the Gatorade Hawaii Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year on Thursday.
Taylor, a senior, won the 100-meter high hurdles in 15.79 seconds and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 45.82 as Ka Makani took the girls title at the state championships in early May.
She will attend Boston College this fall.
The award recognizes not only athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the track.
