Police were investigating the death of a 56-year-old man who fell from an upper floor of a public housing complex on Kalakaua Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Homicide Lt. Phillip Lavarias said police responded to a report of a heated argument at Kalakaua Homes at about 6:30 p.m. and found the victim lying lifeless in the grass fronting the building, Makua Alii, 1541 Kalakaua Ave.
Police were checking floors and speaking to witnesses. He said police opened an unattended-death case and were investigating whether the man fell, jumped or was pushed.
Krystal Meadows was visiting family at the complex when she heard an argument while walking to her car. She said she looked up and saw the man falling about halfway down the 20-story building, screaming as he dropped.
The man fell from an exterior walkway that lines the front doors of each floor.
