A bucket of burned nails was collected from only one weekend at Makua Beach. The nails were what was left from fires on the beach using wood pallets.

Some campers, using the Makua section of the Kaena Point State Park Reserve over the holiday weekend, left piles of rubbish, toilet paper and human waste scattered throughout the vegetation.
