Search continues for lost fisherman
Kauai Fire Department personnel conducted an aerial search Saturday for the third of three fishermen who went missing when their vessel overturned in waters off Oahu’s North Shore.
The search was suspended in the evening. Fire officials will decide whether to continue the search this morning.
Two bodies, believed to be those of the other two fishermen, were recovered off Kauai on Friday. An overturned vessel was also spotted in the vicinity of one of the bodies.
Jensen Loo, Clint Oshima and Derek Thomas, all 30, left Haleiwa Boat Harbor on July 3 in the 20-foot vessel Iwa. They were reported missing Sunday night.
On Monday the Coast Guard spotted the Iwa overturned about 25 miles off the harbor.
Over the next four days, the Coast Guard searched more than 27,600 square miles, calling off its efforts Thursday.
