Hawaii island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a pair of thefts from a Kailua-Kona store in June.
On June 24 at about 8:20 a.m., a man removed merchandise from a store on the 74-5400 block of Makala Street. On June 26 at about 3:10 p.m., the same man is suspected of having removed merchandise from the same store, police said. Images of the suspect were captured on surveillance video.

Man treated after Chinatown stabbing
A 42-year-old man was in serious condition Tuesday after he was stabbed with a box cutter in Chinatown, according to a city Emergency Medical Services report.
The attack happened at about 5 p.m. near Smith and North Pauahi streets.
Paramedics treated the man and transported him to a hospital. Additional details about the attack were not available.
Phone video leads to burglary suspect
A 25-year-old Pahoa man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly was captured in a cellphone video burglarizing a house in Keaau, Hawaii County police said.
Xanthin Berdon was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary. His bail was set at $25,000.
Police said the 25-year-old victim woke up May 12 to discover a stranger in his house on Ilima Street. The burglar took the victim’s car key and fled on foot.
A witness in the house recorded the suspect on his cellphone, which helped police identify Berdon, police said.
Tips sought in theft of tents, tarps
Hawaii island police are investigating the theft of tents, tarpaulins and other items from a storage building in Punaluu.
Police said the burglary occurred sometime between July 2 and 7 at the O Kaʻu Kakou storage building on Alanui Road.
Among the items taken were four 20-by-20-foot gray heavy-duty tarps along with metal fittings painted red, blue and yellow. Also removed were six 10-by-10-foot pop-up tents with painted yellow markings and the letters “OKK” on the tent legs.

Big Island police seek jewelry thief
Hawaii island police are looking for a woman wanted for stealing jewelry June 22 from a store on Waterfront Row in Kailua-Kona.
According to police, the woman took a pair of gold turtle earrings.
The thief’s image was caught on surveillance video. She was wearing a dark T-shirt that had white print across the front and depicted the Hawaiian Islands in white on the back right shoulder.
