Ko Olina Golf Club starts new sessions of its Get Golf Ready and Kidz Club programs next month.
The sixth session of this year’s Get Golf Ready begins Aug. 18 and classes run weekly for five weeks. Beginner and intermediate classes are Thursdays at 4 and 5 p.m. A women’s beginner class starts Aug. 20 at 4 p.m., with a women’s intermediate class following at 5 p.m. Another beginner series starts Aug. 21 at 11 a.m.
Lessons are designed to give beginners confidence to get on the golf course, with a maximum of four students per instructor. Equipment and range balls are free during lessons. Cost is $109 for beginners and $139 for intermediate.
Kidz Club Session No. 4 starts Aug. 14 and meets for six Sundays. The club is designed to be developmental and introduce golf fundamentals in a safe, fun environment. Juniors earn additional privileges to practice on the range, play the golf course and compete in various tournaments.
Four levels are available, starting with the introductory red level, followed by gold (Introductory II), white (beginners) and black (Advanced).
Cost for the six-week series ranges from $150-$200.

Team USA gets big win
Last weekend, Team USA staged a stunning rally to win the UL International Crown by a point over top-seeded Korea.
Last month, Michelle Wie and the rest of the victorious 2015 U.S. Solheim Cup team took a tour of the Lincoln Memorial and White House before meeting the President. Wie’s tweet following the visit looked like this:
“Thank you @barackobama for celebrating our Solheim Cup victory with us! #AMERICA #GoPuns #HawaiiNoKaOi #salute.
Curtis Cup and success on the golf course seems a long way away for Wie, as she plays in the opening round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open today.
She has dropped to 115th in the Rolex Rankings and missed 10 cuts in 18 starts this year, with no Top 10s. The only statistics where she shows up in the Top 75 are driving distance and sand saves.
Wie plays with Lexi Thompson and Ai Miyazato today and Friday. The tournament will be broadcast on Golf Channel all four days and NBC on the weekend.
