A 28-year-old man was left with tire tracks on his back a week ago after another man drove a car over him in a dispute over a woman in Makakilo, police said.

The suspect, 29-year-old Albert Reimers of Barron Lane, was in Honolulu District Court on Wednesday, charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree criminal property damage and first-degree terroristic threatening. A District judge forwarded his case to Circuit Court.

Reimers was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center with a bail of $75,000.

Police said Reimers rammed a van and then ran over the victim with a car in the early morning of July 19.

The incident started when Reimers approached his ex-girlfriend at a Waipahu park and argued with her about her new boyfriend.

Reimers’ ex-girlfriend left the park, and on Palahia Street in Makakilo, Reimers drove up and rammed her van head-on at about 1 a.m., a police affidavit filed in District Court said.

The 28-year-old victim got out of the ex-girlfriend’s van and argued with Reimers, who was also outside his Saturn car. Reimers went back into his car and allegedly ran over the victim, pinning him underneath.

Reimers got out and told the victim, who was facedown, that he was going to kill him, the affidavit said.

A third man assisted the victim after going outside to investigate the commotion and seeing the man pinned under the car. Reimers fled the scene.

Police said the victim was treated at a hospital for injuries to his back, chest, face and side and had tire marks on his back. Police did not specify how badly the victim was injured, but he has been released from the hospital.

Police arrested Reimers after he turned himself in at the main police station the following day.
