Kauai’s Tatiana Weston-Webb won the U.S. Open title in 3-to-5 foot surf on Sunday at Huntington Beach, Calif. In claiming her first career championship tour win, she took down fellow Hawaii and Kauai surfer Malia Manuel. Weston-Webb receives 10,000 points and moves up to fourth place on the Jeep Leaderboard.
Kaahanui, Killam win Tinman
Kuikaika Kaahanui and Carly Killam won the male and female elite categories at the Tinman Triathlon on Sunday at Kapiolani Park. In the female elite division, Killam (2:04:42.3) edged out Kristen Osborn (2:07:55.5) by a little more than three minutes. Over in the men’s elite division, Kaahanui (1:46:12.7) beat Benjamin Williams (1:46:29.4) by 17 seconds. The event featured a 750-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run.
