Kauai police are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects who robbed an Idaho couple of an iPhone and iPad on Saturday night at Waioli Beach Park in Hanalei.
According to police, at about 7:45 p.m. a 55-year-old Idaho woman got into an argument with two males when they walked in while she was using the men’s public restroom at the park.
The woman left the bathroom and then was approached by two female suspects who began yelling at her, and one of them punched the visitor in the face, police said.
The victim’s husband, 58, came to the aid of his wife and was approached by apparently the same two males who entered the bathroom, along with a third male suspect. The Idaho man was then punched in the head, police said.
The suspects then left, taking the Idaho couple’s iPhone and iPad, police said.
The five suspects appeared to know each other, police said. They were described as being about 20 years old.
Detailed descriptions of the suspects and how they fled the scene are part of the ongoing investigation, according to police.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call police dispatch at 241-1711 or acting Lt. Christian Jenkins, 241-1680.
Those wishing to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 246-8300.
