The Go Nuts (Pacific Southwest) baseball team beat Harford County, Md., 13-3 in a U.S. semifinal of the 12U Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md.
Go Nuts’ Kamaehu Sanchez homered and drove in three runs and Isaiah Omiat also went deep and had two RBIs in the four-inning game. Trayce Young and Kaden Stremick both batted 3-for-3 for Go Nuts, which scored eight runs in the first inning to erase a 2-0 deficit.
“I would have been happy with just one run, but they fought and turned the lineup over in the first inning,” said Go Nuts manager Al Carganilla, according to the tournament website. “From there our pitching and defense came through. Anybody who came in the game responded. I’m just so proud of them.”
Jameson Hussey pitched a complete game for the victory.
Go Nuts will face Kennewick, Wash., in today’s U.S. final at 11 a.m. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports 2 and streamed online at foxsportsgo.com and mlb.com. Japan and Puerto Rico will play in the international final.
