Pay-per-view pricing for the 2016 University of Hawaii football season will remain the same as the two previous seasons, Oceanic Time Warner Cable announced.
Eight of the Rainbow Warriors’ 13 games will again be shown on the 15th season of PPV and the cable operator is offering an eight-game “early bird” season package to Oahu residents for $400. The offer expires Aug. 26. Thereafter the price increases to $450.
Individual game price is $75.
Neighbor Island viewers may purchase the “early bird” package for $240 by the deadline and $270 thereafter. Single game price is $45.
The three-game “away package” available to season ticket holders is also unchanged at $99.
The price freeze continues as PPV sales, as with ticket sales in general, have been in substantial decline amid five consecutive losing seasons.
Oceanic declined comment on sales but people in the industry with knowledge of the trends, have said that PPV orders roughly mirror stadium ticket sales trends.
And actual attendance, which averaged 16,082 last season, according to audited figures furnished to the NCAA, was the lowest in 40 years.
PPV will include five home games and three away games. The first PPV showing is the Sept. 10 non-conference game with Tennessee Martin. Other games are Nevada, San Jose State, Nevada-Las Vegas, Air Force, New Mexico, Fresno State and Massachusetts.
PPV sales will include pre-game and post-game shows and retelecasts. Oceanic will continue to carry a retelecast free the day following the game.
Hawaiian Telcom, which has also offered pay-preview, is expected to announce its pricing shortly.
Oceanic’s PPV package may be ordered by calling 643-2100 or through digital channel 254/1254.
