Things will get hot and spicy Saturday at the Pearlridge Farmers Market for its Second Annual Chile Pepper Fest.
There you will find chef demonstrations, chili roasting and even ancho chocolate cake to celebrate the market’s anniversary. And of course, there will be chilies for sale so you can add fiery goodness to your own dishes.
The event runs 8 a.m. to noon, regular market hours, at the parking lot outside Sears. Visit farmloversmarkets.com.
Cool down with Asian noodle recipes
What better way to enjoy noodles during the sweltering summer than in cold preparations? Ryan Murakami will show you how to whip them up Asian style at Lyon Arboretum on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
Murakami mixes up the flavors of various Asian spices to deliver such dishes as cold jajangmyun, tan tan mien, cold soba with kochujang and tahini miso drizzle, plus more.
The class is $30 plus a $15 supply fee at the arboretum, 3860 Manoa Road. Register at 988-0456. Visit manoa.hawaii.edu/lyonarboretum.
