Par Hawaii said it will offer discounted gasoline today at its HELE station in Waianae.
The company said regular gasoline will be $1.99 per gallon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the opening of its HELE retail fuel station at Waianae Mall at 86-090 Farrington Highway.
The use of a Kamaaina Rewards Card is required for the discounted price.
Par Hawaii said its employees and police officers will direct motorists to enter the road after Cathay Inn Chinese Restaurant and route them through the Leeward
Community College-Waianae parking lot.
The price is part of the company’s rebranding of 37 local gas stations. Some 25 Tesoro-branded stations and 12 76-branded stations are being converted to HELE stations. HELE means “to go” in Hawaiian. Par Pacific owns 128 gas stations in Hawaii.
The company said the conversion process — 27 stations on Oahu, four on Maui, three in Hilo and three in West Hawaii — is due for completion by December.
The company said drivers will see the branding change over the next few weeks, including changes in station canopies, fuel price signage, fueling stations and pump dispensers. It cost Par Hawaii roughly
$4 million to rebrand.
Par Hawaii Inc. and Par Hawaii Refining LLC are subsidiaries of Texas-based Par Pacific Holdings Inc. and are headquartered in Hawaii. Par Hawaii acquired the 94,000-barrel Tesoro refinery in Kapolei in September 2013. In April 2015, the company bought Kokooha Investments, the holding company that runs Mid Pac Petroleum, the exclusive marketer of the 76 brand in Hawaii.
