A 25-year-old Makiki woman was arrested early Sunday morning after she allegedly tried to run over a man who she claimed had sexually assaulted her.
Police said the woman struck the man with her vehicle and was being held pending investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
The man, 66, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center following the 4:29 a.m. incident in front of Zippy’s at 1222 S. King St. in Makiki. He was initially listed in serious condition but was upgraded to good, police said.
The woman apparently reported the sex assault when she was apprehended by police. Both incidents are under investigation, police said.
Kauai pedestrian hit by car, flown to Oahu
A 35-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car on Hehe Lane in Hanamaulu, Kauai, late Saturday night.
The Hanamaulu man was walking west at about 6:08 p.m. when he was struck by a Nissan sedan, police said. The sedan was driven by a 27-year-old woman, also from Hanamaulu.
He was airlifted with head injuries to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. His condition wasn’t disclosed.
The driver and her passenger were not injured.
The road was closed for an investigation and was reopened at about 10:26 p.m.
Son and father assaulted by group in Kunia
A Kunia man who pursued his son’s assailants ended up taking a beating himself, police said.
According to police, the boy, 17, was assaulted by a group of males at 4:15 p.m. Saturday while he was seated in a vehicle. Afterward the victim went home and told his parents about the incident.
The father then ran after the suspects and was assaulted, police said. One suspect fired several rounds from a gun into the air before the suspects fled in a vehicle.
The case has been classified as first-degree reckless endangering and third-degree assault.
