Kailua-Kona’s Jason Lester became the first American male to run across Australia, completing the nearly 2,500-mile, 135-day trek Thursday.
Lester’s journey began in Scarborough, Western Australia, and ended at Clyde Mountain in New South Wales. He didn’t run on 17 of the days because of rain.
Lester hauled his own supplies in a cart – until he got close to the finish point.
“Every day at least one person said, ‘You have a long way to go,’ ” Lester said.
