The newly redeveloped International Market Place will open at 9:30 a.m. Thursday with a modern look that embraces its history, including its more than 100-year-old banyan tree and treehouse, and other special features: a three-story water wall and an entertainment stage, where nightly performances at dusk will mark the lighting of the center’s Lamaku Torch Tower.
In addition to 10 restaurants, approximately 75 will also surround anchor tenant Saks Fifth Avenue. Here are a few, old and new:
Crazy Shirts
The homegrown brand returns to its roots. Founder Rick Ralston got his start airbrushing T-shirts steps away from the old International Market Place in 1964.
As with its other locations, the new shop will features Crazy Shirts’ playful graphic apparel, including coordinating tops and bottoms, “hydro print” board shorts that change color when wet and fashion-inspired collections, as well as its trademark specialty T-shirts made with fabric dyes that use coffee, volcanic ash, beer, wine, chocolate and more.
Fabletics
For the past couple of years, you couldn’t miss Fabletics offers on Facebook. The activewear brand co-founded by Kate Hudson in 2013 has evolved beyond e-commerce into brick-and-mortar stores.
The new 1,946-square-foot retail space will offer the brand’s latest collections of activewear in exclusive prints and styles for performance, lifestyle, dress and swim.
Amenities available to shoppers will include mobile points of sale, free shipping from warehouses for out-of-stock items, in-store fitting appointments and the option to buy online and pick up in store, as well as a virtual shopping cart to help customers complete their shopping online after an in-store visit.
The store will also carry FL2, Fabletics’ new line of men’s high-performance athletic gear and premium lifestyle basics.

During the grand opening, taking place from Thursday through Aug. 28, guests receive a 20 percent discount on all purchases, and there will be a doorbuster sale with a complimentary pair of black Salar capris with a $49 purchase for the first 50 customers on all four days. There will also be light refreshments and champagne from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27.
Jo Malone London
The bespoke fragrance brand will be opening its first Hawaii stand-alone boutique on Thursday, and it will include its newest fragrance collection, Basil & Neroli.
Each of its fragrances is crafted from quality ingredients in combinations that are simple but always a little unexpected, such as its classic Lime, Basil & Mandarin.
Shoppers will be able to engage their senses with a relaxing hand and arm massage at the Jo Malone Tasting Bar and discover the brand’s signature Fragrance Combining.
Shinola
The Detroit-based modern design brand founded in 2011 was conceived with the belief that products should be well made and built to last. It’s known for its dedication to thoughtful manufacturing of watches, bicycles, leather goods, journals and, soon, audio equipment.
The 1,300-square-foot location will be Shinola’s 16th brick-and-mortar retail site in the United States and its 18th worldwide.
To celebrate its grand opening, Shinola will feature music by Aloha Got Soul and serve kalua pork sliders with Hawaiian slaw and Shinola cola floats with locally made ice cream from Dave’s Hawaiian Ice Cream from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27.
Swarovski
The crystal specialist will host a grand-opening event from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, highlighted by its fall-winter jewelry collections and gift items.
Vera Bradley
The new 1,800-square-foot store will carry the complete Vera Bradley collection of handbags, luggage and other travel items, accessories, eyewear, jewelry and fragrances.
