A man in his 30s was in critical condition Sunday after becoming unconscious in the water at Sandy Beach.
Lifeguards pulled the unresponsive man out of the shorebreak at about 3:05 p.m., a city Emergency Medical Services report said.
Lifeguards began treatment, and paramedics took the man to a hospital.
Gunman on the loose after man shot in leg
A suspect was at large Sunday after shooting a 23-year-old man Saturday night in the Ala Moana area, authorities said.
Paramedics treated the victim for an apparent gunshot wound to his left upper leg at Sheridan and Rycroft streets, according to a city Emergency Medical Services report. The man was transported in serious condition to a hospital at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, paramedics said.
Police opened a second-degree attempted murder investigation.
