An online fundraising account is now in place for a 22-year-old Kapolei man who remains hospitalized in critical condition after he was allegedly stabbed by a 58-year-old Ewa Beach man in a road-rage incident on the H-1 freeway.
Tracy Olson Brumskill created a GoFundMe page seeking donations to help Jesther Marlang with mounting medical expenses. Brumskill provided aid to Marlang and his passenger, Deion Anunciacion, 23, after both men suffered stab wounds.
On the GoFundMe page, Brumskill said she has visited Marlang in the hospital several times, and noted, “While his condition is slowly improving, he has a long and difficult road to full recovery.”
Mark Char was charged in connection with the Aug. 1 road-rage incident on the shoulder of the westbound freeway before the Kunia exit — accused of stabbing Marlang, Anunciacion and Jene Winn, 58, who had stopped to help.
Char was arraigned Thursday, and a jury trial is scheduled for the week of Oct. 24, said Dave Koga, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office. Char is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
Marlang sustained stab wounds to his torso and right kidney and a cut to his left arm, police said. Anunciacion suffered a cut to his left arm, and Winn suffered cuts to two fingers on his right hand.
