1. PACKER PICK
>> Situation: Hawaii 0, Michigan 0, 13:27 remaining first quarter, Michigan ball, first-and-10 at own 29.
>> The Play: S Damien Packer intercepts QB Wilton Speight’s pass in the right flat on Michigan’s first offensive play.
>> Impact: Hawaii took over on the Michigan 38 but failed to advance the ball.
>> Packer: “It was something I had envisioned. Coach (Nick Rolovich) talks to us a lot about visualizing in making big plays. I saw that happen and I was lucky enough to go up there and execute.”
2. SPEIGHT SETTLES IN
>> Situation: Michigan 0, Hawaii 0, 11:27 remaining, first quarter, Michigan ball, third-and-7 at own 5.
>> The Play: Speight completes a pass to WR Jehu Chesson for 16 yards and a first down.
>> Impact: Michigan had started at its own 2 after Rigo Sanchez’s punt. After Speight’s first completion, Michigan rolled down the field for an 11-play, 98-yard touchdown drive and Hawaii never recovered.
>> Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh: “It’s very difficult for a quarterback to throw an interception and then come back to lead a touchdown drive the following series. It’s something I’ve always been fascinated by watching quarterbacks, and the really good ones can respond.”
3. WOOLSEY LOCKS ON
>> Situation: Michigan 21, Hawaii 0, 10:45 remaining, second quarter, first-and-15 at Hawaii 20.
>> The Play: QB Ikaika Woolsey stays locked on a receiver too long and his pass is intercepted by S Delano Hill, who returns it 27 yards for a touchdown.
>> Impact: The first of two pick-six scores gave Michigan a four-touchdown lead.
>> Harbaugh: “I’m watching our defense the first half and even into the third quarter, there wasn’t a mistake made. There wasn’t an alignment mistake made, there wasn’t a stance mistake throughout the first half and the first part of the third quarter. It was very impressive. Everybody knew exactly what they were doing. It just showed.”
4. MISSED OPPORTUNITY
>> Situation: Michigan 35, Hawaii 0, 0:39 remaining, second quarter, Hawaii ball, first-and-goal at Michigan 3.
>> The Play: Woolsey recovers a bad snap for a loss of 4 yards.
>> Impact: That was followed by a conventional sack and then an intentional grounding penalty that ended the half with the ball at the Michigan 22.
>> Rolovich: “I don’t think you can take one thing away from Michigan.”
5. CONSOLATION

>> The Play: Sanchez successfully kicks a career-long 55-yard field goal.
>> Impact: Hawaii averts a shutout. But it is the 10th time Hawaii has been held to 10 or fewer points in the past five seasons.
>> Sanchez: “You can feel it when you hit the sweet spot, about the size of a quarter, on the ball.”
