Bookworms who love the occasional cocktail will want to attend Books & Spirits, a literary event that brings together readers and authors in an intimate setting, along with a special drink to enjoy.
The latest installment at 7 p.m. Thursday features David Helvarg, author of the memoir “Saved by the Sea” and executive director of the Blue Frontier Campaign, a national marine conservation organization. Blue Frontier is part of the Seaweed Rebellion, an initiative to connect ocean protection groups across the country. Mixologist Christian Self of Bevy took inspiration from the initiative to whip up the Seaweed Rebel, an avant-garde cocktail that combines seaweed-infused Ocean Vodka with grapefruit and other citrus.
Tickets are available at eventbrite.com. They include general admission to Helvarg’s talk, with two drinks and soup ($15); a small-group reception (6:30 p.m.) and talk, with two drinks and pupu ($25); general admission plus a signed copy of “Saved by the Sea” ($35); and the reception and a signed copy of the book ($45). General admission at the door is $20.
Books & Spirits is held at RevoluSun Smart Home, 210 Ward Ave., Suite 140.
