Helping shelter abandoned animals

Committee members Maude Lau, left, Bill van den Hurk, Stephanie Ryan, Audy Kimura and Susan Borochov watched from a distance as enthusiastic “gamblers” crowded around the gaming tables at the Third Annual Casino Carnival Night, a fundraiser for the Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Sept. 4 at Waialae Country Club. The “gambling” was just for fun as proceeds from the evening helped the no-kill animal shelter purchase several high-ticket items on its wish list.
