An important note to users of Galaxy Note 7: Avoid charging or using the phone while on a flight and don’t pack it in checked luggage.
That’s the word from the Federal Aviation Administration after three dozen of the new Samsung smartphones caught fire, apparently because of the rechargeable lithium ion batteries in the devices that ignited or exploded. On Thursday, a family car reportedly caught fire while the phone was being charged. The Consumer Product Safety Commission also has weighed in, urging owners of the Galaxy Note 7 to “stop charging or using the device.”
Tough as that might be, safety first.
Flats at Puunui a welcome addition but oddly named
The Flats at Puunui is the name given by Kamehameha Schools to its workforce rental apartment project bounded by Pohukaina and Keawe Streets. Most residents watching the redevelopment of Kakaako with interest welcome the addition of housing that even approaches “affordability” in the urban core.
However, we wonder a bit at the name. Yes, “flats” refer to apartment-type dwellings, not the topography. Still, the area is flatter than a pancake, an odd association for “Puunui,” which means “big hill.” Moreover, Puunui is a district, but it seems some distance away, mauka.
Hmmm.
