Hawaii Hilo sweeps Hawaii Pacific

The Hawaii Hilo volleyball team (4-3, 2-0 PacWest) swept visiting Hawaii Pacific (5-6, 1-1) 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 on Wednesday night.

The Vulcans were led by Marley Strand-Nicolaisen, who had 13 kills, eight digs and three blocks. The Sharks were led by Perla Escobar’s double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs.

UHH hits the road and next will face Dixie State in St. George, Utah, while HPU heads to Northern California to face Notre Dame de Namur. Both matches will be played on Monday.

>> In other PacWest volleyball action, Chaminade defeated BYU-Hawaii 25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 25-8.

The Silverswords improve to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Seasiders fell to 2-9 overall and 0-2.

Senior Kim Spring led Chaminade with eight kills and 14 digs. Leilani Adolpho had a double-double for BYUH with 11 kills and 10 digs.

Both teams head to California for their next match on Monday. Chaminade will take on Point Loma while BYU-Hawaii is set to battle Dominican.
