The Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives is holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, offering free admission, tours, crafts and activities for the whole family. The site, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, includes three restored houses, two of which are the oldest missionary homes in Hawaii, along with archives that provide a glimpse into life in 19th-century Hawaii.
Tours of the historic houses will be offered on the half hour, with the first tour beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the last scheduled for 3 p.m. Families are invited to try lauhala weaving, candle making and quill writing, in addition to games and other activities reflecting the site’s history.
Food will be available for purchase at Mission Social Hall and Cafe.
