Members of the public can tour the first driverless four-car train for Oahu’s rail transit system from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation rail operations center in Pearl City, next to Leeward Community College.
Visitors will get to board the train, which features an “open gangway” design that allows passengers to walk across all four cars. The free event will include entertainment and prizes, according to a HART news release. Visitors can park in the LCC parking lot and take a shuttle from there to the train.
The full rail line, if completed to Ala Moana Center as envisioned, is now slated to be completed in 2024, according to the latest official estimates.
