The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved two big casino deals, making official the sales of the Palms to Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos) and Aliante to Boyd Gaming. While no major changes at either property are expected, a Red Rock representative indicated that it will invest in a six- to 18-month “freshening” of the Palms. And at Aliante, the sports book has already been absorbed into the Boyd Gaming system, eliminating what had previously been one of Las Vegas’ relatively rare “independent books.” The slot clubs at both properties will remain unaffected until the end of the year.

Question: Is it true that Westgate Las Vegas is now charging for parking like the MGM properties?
Answer: No. Despite having gates at the parking lot entrances, the Westgate has not gone to all-the-time paid parking. A fee is charged, usually $20, when there’s a big convention or special event at the property, but most of the time the gates into the parking areas are raised and parking continues to be free.
