Voter-registration procrastinators are just about out of time. Monday at 4:30 p.m. is the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 general election, your chance as a U.S. citizen to cast a ballot in the presidential race, as well as for local races such as for Honolulu mayor.
Registration can be done online — see www.elections.hawaii.gov — or via mail-in application. If you do opt for snail mail, though, today is your deadline: the mailing must be postmarked by Oct. 8 since the U.S. Postal Service will be closed Monday for Columbus Day.
Get comfortable and watch the rematch
Get the popcorn ready, as well as your favorite beverage: Sunday brings the second presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, and it should be entertaining, if not informative.
The 90-minute event will start at 3 p.m. Hawaii time (9 p.m. Eastern), and air on all major TV networks plus be livestreamed. If last month’s first Clinton-Trump debate that drew a record 84 million viewers is any indication, Sunday’s rematch should be must-see TV.
