Once upon a time, like every other major luxury brand, Louis Vuitton had its own line of fragrances, introduced in 1925. The last launch came in 1946, after the end of World War II.
Now fragrance is back in a big way with the launch of a seven-piece collection created by third-generation perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. The elegant scents are made from all-natural ingredients to represent a journey through life and travels.
The excursion starts with Rose des Vents, evoking a field of roses in Belletrud’s home of Grasse, France. The other fragrances are Turbulences, with the scent of tuberoses; Dans La Peau, possessing an infusion of leather reflecting LV’s association with travel luggage; Apogee, with a lily of the valley scent; Contre Moi (“Close to Me”), with warm vanilla notes; Matiere Noire (“Dark Matter”), blending dark wood and white narcissus and jasmine; and Mille Feux (“Thousand Lights”), an ode to a starlit sky.
The fragrances are presented in bottles designed by Apple watch designer Mark Newson to have an invisible spray stem. Each 100-milliliter bottle is $240; 200-milliliter bottles are $350. A miniset of all seven scents in 10-milliliter sizes is $290.
Spa inspired by Japanese hot springs
In time for the holidays, Na Ho‘ola Spa at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki has introduced an Onsen Mineral Wrap treatment to capture the renewing benefits of a traditional Japanese “onsen” (hot spring) with a matcha exfoliation and mask, green tea-and-mineral wrap, followed by skin-softening yuzu citrus body butter.
The 50-minute treatment is $120, available through March 1, 2017. Reserve at 237-6330 or online at nahoolaspawaikiki.com.
