October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and every year the fashion and beauty industries show their support by offering pink merchandise to raise money for breast cancer research, treatment and education.
Hawaii newcomer Saks Fifth Avenue has joined forces with Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) and the Entertainment Industry Foundation for its 2016 Key to the Cure campaign. Now in its 18th year, the campaign’s ambassador is Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, who models a limited-edition, fundraising T-shirt designed by Christian Louboutin.
The full purchase price of the $35 T-shirt — available at the Waikiki and Waikele stores and on Saks.com and Saksoff5th.com — will be donated to support the fight against cancer.
In addition, Saks is partnering with the Queen’s Medical Center for a charity shopping weekend beginning Oct. 27, to support Key to the Cure.
Every Thursday in October, Ann Taylor will be donating 10 percent of in-store purchases from 5 p.m. to closing and all day online to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Among items to consider are these floral drop earrings, $59.50. Ann Taylor stores are at Pearlridge and Ala Moana Center.
The Cos Bar in Wailea, Maui, has partnered with beauty brands in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For every $50 Bobbi Brown Art Stick Duo Set or $38 Clinique Great Skin, Great Cause special-edition Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion sold through Sunday, $10 will be donated.
Ola Tropical Apothecary will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from sales of its new Bath Rituals collections to the Susan G. Komen Foundation this month. Visit HawaiianBodyProducts.com.
Mad Hippie, a line of natural skin care products ranging from vitamin A serum to face cream, will donate $1 from each of its website sales in October to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Prices run from $15.99 to $34.99 at madhippie.com.
Tory Burch is donating 20 percent from the October purchase of any one of seven select pink items to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, up to a maximum of $35,000. Items include Marion embossed metallic cases ($65 to $235), Ivy pink bags ($275 to $475), a TB logo and heart key fob ($55) and a TB traveler’s scarf ($225). Tory Burch boutiques are at Ala Moana and Royal Hawaiian centers.
David Yurman is partnering with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, donating 20 percent of the price of its newly released Chatelaine bracelet ($325) with pink pearl, available at the designer’s Ala Moana Center boutique and at DavidYurman.com, during October.
