Noelle Mercado scored at 49:21 and Leonica Lopez added a goal at 68:20 as the Hawaii Pacific women’s soccer team beat Chaminade 2-0 on Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
The Sharks improved to 3-9-1, 3-5-0 PacWest, while the Silverswords fell to 2-9-1, 2-6-1.

Kaiti Freeberg scored at 30:07 and Abbey Teagle added a goal at 40:00 for the Sea Lions (9-2-3, 7-1-1).

BYUH men settle for draw
Edgar Mesa Perez scored at 14:16, but Brigham Young-Hawaii had to settle for a 1-1 tie against Point Loma at BYUH field.
Keyran Kelly scored at 45:43 for the Sea Lions (5-5-4, 4-4-1 PacWest). The Seasiders moved to 5-5-3, 4-4-2.

HPU women finish in fourth place
California Baptist swept the men’s and women’s titles at the Pacific West Conference cross country championships on Saturday at Kamehameha-Hawaii.
The Sharks women placed fourth with 115 points, Brigham Young-Hawaii was eighth with 217, Hawaii Hilo finished 13th with 380 and Chaminade was 14th and last with 405. Cal Baptist had 23 points.
The Lancers’ Anett Somogyi won the 6K event in 23:08.31. The top finisher for each of the local schools were: Kimberly Carter (HPU, ninth, 24:27.80), Jessica Horrocks (BYUH, 24th, 25:26.04), Anna Baker-Mikkelse (Hilo, 49th, 26:55.25) and Jaycie Dennison (Chaminade, 85th, 30:59.60).
The BYU-Hawaii men finished seventh with 163 points, Hawaii Pacific placed ninth with 223 and Chaminade was 11th and last with 336. Cal Baptist, which won its sixth consecutive conference title, finished with 28 points.
Josh Thorson of Academy of Art won the 8K race in 26:50.97. The Seasiders’ top finisher was Max Moncur (15th, 28:30.68), the Sharks’ top runner was Edward Ochsner (43rd, 30:46.96) and the best finish by a Silverswords competitor was Alec Bell (75th, 35:20.84).
