Princess Kaiulani Birthday Celebration

1. The crown princess, celebrated for her poise and intelligence, and for her quest to support restoration of the Hawaiian monarchy, was celebrated with a traditional royal court procession presented by Tihati Productions at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani on Oct. 21. Kaiulani Elementary School students joined in the ceremony.

Britney look-alike

2. Derrick Barry, a Britney Spears impersonator who performs regularly in Las Vegas and other top locations, sashayed into the Republik on Oct. 21 accompanied by live burlesque and male dancers.

Great Pumpkin Festival

3. Families gathered at Holy Nativity School on Saturday to pick a pumpkin for Halloween festivities.

Honolulu Pride

4. Hawaii’s LGBTQ+ community took pride in its progress Saturday with a parade from Magic Island to Waikiki and a festival at Kapiolani Regional Park.

Slack-key festival goes west

5. The Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival went to Hoalauna Park in Ewa Beach for its “Westside Style” performance. Maunalua, Brother Noland, Kawika Kahiapo and Ashley Lilinoe were among the musicians performing.

6. A Q&A session, gown/costume segment and unique “Moonlight Bathing Lingerie Competition” had contestants on their toes for the event, held Sunday at Hawaii Theatre.
