Bank of Hawaii is introducing a Cardless Cash feature today on its mobile banking app that will enable customers to securely withdraw cash from select Bankoh ATMS.
The product, which uses a one-time code, eliminates the need for a plastic card. It cuts the risk of fraud, reduces the chances of customers’ PINs being stolen using Touch ID or a passcode, saves time by scanning a QR code with the customer’s phone and allows customers to present withdrawal amounts. To use the feature, a customer needs to log into the Bankoh mobile banking app, select Cardless Cash in the menu, enter the withdrawal amount and scan the QR code on the ATM. The money then is dispensed by the machine.
Cardless Cash initially will be available at 185 ATMs at Bankoh branches, in-store branches and select retail locations. Customers can search for Cardless Cash ATMs by using the “Find Cardless Cash ATMs” feature within Bankoh’s mobile banking app or on boh.com.
Project for disadvantaged youth wins $3,000
American Savings Bank, Finance Factors and Kupu collaborated to win $3,000 for Kupu, a Honolulu-based youth and conservation nonprofit. The prize money came as the result of the Strong Communities Award, sponsored by Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa, as a way to honor projects, people and programs that promote small-business growth. Honolulu won second place in the national competition.
American Savings and Finance Factors partnered with Kupu in 2015 on its Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps project to utilize outdoor environmental service learning activities, workforce readiness training and academic classes to transform the lives of Oahu’s most disadvantaged youths. The program provided education and job training in 2015 for 145 youths and young adults, who provided the community with 30,740 volunteer hours valued at $709,172. In return, Kupu gave $100,000 in educational awards to participating youths.
