Police said that at about 7 p.m. Sunday, an officer stopped Lewis after he ran a stop sign at the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision and found that he was wanted for violating a temporary restraining order related to alleged harassment.
Lewis was “uncooperative” and started up his vehicle, and the officer tried to grab him, police said.
Lewis then tried to escape through the passenger door, kicking the police officer several times in the face, head and arms, police said. Lewis fled, leaving three passengers in his vehicle.
Officers were able to locate him a couple of hours later at a residence on 26th Avenue.
Lewis was also charged with having no motor vehicle insurance, driving without a license and violating the temporary restraining order.
